No celebration of Intl Day for the Girl Child without celebrating my daughter, Akachukwu, Ivie

Akachukwu, Ivie, my sunshine who insisted on living and staying with me despite what I faced during your pregnancy. I remembered putting you on my back at two months, running tro and fro to the venue of our maiden vocational training for women and girls. Your resilience was what propelled me to start, We Rise Foundation, now Elizabeth Osayande Foundation. You have proved to me that a girl-child is worth more. I have watched you, survive your days at creche which you began at exactly two-months plus. I watched you survive our days we stayed alone all through the night in the flat whenever your Dad had lots of works and couldn't come home during week days. I watched how you transformed from a baby at 10 months to start preparing for your the birth of your brother. And I have watched your dexterity, tenacity and humane spirit to give, live, love, and be loved. I could write, write, and write over again of your selfless spirit. I love my job

  I am loving living a life of impact. Albeit, doing my job as a journalist with the stress,  I enjoy doing my philanthropy life with double stress, but higher fulfilment. Over the weekend, a young man I did a story of him winning a JCI award for inventing a first aid kit for eye treatment,  called me that he wanted to give  our little man a gift. See me see gift, I said okay. On Monday, young Babatunde came to my office, gave our son the gift. However, my joy knew no bounds when we started a discussion on how to better the lives of indigent and underserved communities. Note: I told him the reason I go out of my way to celebrate and write about young stars changing lives without collecting a Dime. I reiterated that helping others without immediate gratification has ripple effects. Come next week, our NGO, Elizabeth Osayande Foundation with R.E.T.I.N.A Initiative, led by the co-founder Babatunde Bale   will be at Makoko for a free eye testing exercise. I an...
